NORRISTOWN CHEER RANKS 11TH IN THE NATION

Updated on 04/18/2023

The Norristown High School cheerleaders have been ranked 11th in the nation over this past weekend at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship.  The National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) is the most prestigious cheerleading championship in the country. The team qualified to attend the NHSCC in November of 2019 by placing 5th at the Regional.

The event is held in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. This year, the event was represented by 34 states, 9 countries, 950 teams, and 19,848 athletes. Norristown ranked 11th in Large Varsity Non-Tumbling, a very competitive division. This was Norristown's first appearance in the finals.

Norristown's team consists of 18 athletes, 10 of which being freshmen. There are only 7 returners on the team. Majority of Norristown's team joins the program in August with little to no cheerleading experience. To be nationally ranked among athletes who have been competitively cheering for majority of their life is a huge accomplishment. The program is headed by Jennifer Hudson and assisted by Autumn Hudson. This is Jennifer's first year as head coach of the program.
